Although you are not lawyers, HR professionals must be up to speed and knowledgeable on a variety of employment laws that affect the workplace. The number of rules, regulations, laws, and guidelines that affect the workplace are extreme in number and often changing. Lawyers have law school and now HR professionals have HR Law School. Learning the laws is not enough, though. HR professionals must know how those laws affect the workplace and how to apply them in the workplace. The single most important way to ensure this and the single most important tool in the HR professional’s arsenal is the employee handbook. This one-stop document manages a company’s employee relations and legal compliance. With that in mind, shouldn’t lawyers teach the HR Law School and use the employee handbook as the textbook? Through this half-day program, a pair of lawyers will teach a crash course in employment law through the eyes of an employee handbook. Attendees will learn about almost every federal and Texas law affecting the workplace using an employee handbook as the textbook and syllabus.

Learning Objectives:

  • Gain a basic understanding and knowledge of the various employment laws that affect the workplace
  • Apply the various employment laws to the workplace and business operations
  • Understand the legal requirements in the area of employee handbooks
